The world’s population is expected to grow by 2 billion before year 2050. In order to feed this drastically increasing population, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) predicts that the agriculture industry will need to produce 70% more food while only being able to use 5% more land.
This, coupled with growing environmental and regulatory pressures, presents a huge challenge for the farming industry. Since most land suitable for agriculture is already farmed, this growth must come from higher yields.
In this final series of 2021, the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta are hosting a webinar on Digital Transformations in Agriculture to explore the digital revolution that can provide the solutions to the problems of feeding the world sustainably.
Presenters and speakers include:
Frans Lips - Ministry of Agriculture of the Netherlands
Rojan Bolling – The Netherlands Food Partnership
Datuk Yatimah Sarjiman - The Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in Prime Ministers Department Malaysia
Eric van Valkengoed - TerraSphere
