SeedNL Seed Laws Toolbox 2023 - Open Call for Proposals

For a second time, SeedNL will be launching its Seed Laws Toolbox, a facility for small grants to address seed regulatory bottlenecks. Last year a pilot was successfully launched, allowing the implementation of four projects in respectively Benin, Iraq, Mozambique and Tanzania.

A conducive seed regulatory framework is a prerequisite for a vibrant seed sector. Yet, in many low- and middle-income countries the regulatory system is still a key bottleneck, which is a major obstacle preventing quality seed of adapted varieties to reach small farmers.Typical issues are laws and regulations not being in line with regional and international standards, or issues around specific topics like variety release, appropriate quality assurance, seed business licensing and seed trade.

For a second year, SeedNL invites organizations in collaboration with partners in target countries to submit proposals for contributing to solving seed regulatory bottlenecks. The call is open to partners from the public sector, private sector, civil society and knowledge institutes.

The application deadline is 1 April 2023. Projects have to be carried out between May and October 2023.  For more information, please see: https://www.seednl.nl/seed-laws-toolbox
