Strengthening cooperation between Beninese horticultural key stakeholders

On 1 March, NFP, AgriBiz Booster and the Dutch embassy in Benin organised the forth webinar to strengthen cooperation between key stakeholders in the horticultural sector in Benin.

Objective

The overall objective of this webinar series was to kick-start longer term collaboration between key partners in the Beninese horticulture sector. With this in mind, the emphasis was on knowledge and information exchange, with a particular focus on the sector's role within the Beninese food system, as well as its function in the national, regional and international producer and consumer markets.

Over 30 partners from the private and public sectors discussed collective actions for 2022, in relation to specific horticulture crops and products as well as other themes, with the aim of contributing to improved food and nutrition security in Benin. In addition, the participants exchanged ideas on how to organise and manage their cooperation and what support is needed. The Dutch embassy in Benin will follow up on this initiative, to further support the building and strengthening of a consortium comprised of Beninese partners from the horticulture sector for the next two years.

From dialogue to direction: What the Food Diamond Dialogues Taught Us

Something struck me during our final Food Diamond Dialogue session on June 2nd, which brought together people from knowledge institutions, civil society organizations, government, and the private and financial sector - the so-called Dutch Diamond actors. As a room full of professionals from these diverse fields gathered to discuss how we can collectively increase our impact on food and nutrition security in low- and middle-income countries, it became clear how differently organizations within and across the Diamond perceive their roles and responsibilities.

The Biodiversity & Food Systems Shared Messages are the result of an intentional community-owned co-development process convened by the Netherlands Food Partnership and shaped together with members of the Biodiversity & Food Systems Partnership. The Shared Messages articulate a common ground across sectors, actors, and scales, while recognising the importance of pluralism, different ways of knowing, and context-specific pathways for change.
