Dutch stakeholders continue preparation for UNFSS 2021 | 11 May 2021
In September 2021, UN Secretary-General António Guterres will convene a Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The Summit will launch bold new actions to deliver progress on all 17 SDGs, each of which relies to some degree on healthier, more sustainable and equitable food systems.

On 11 May Netherlands Food Partnership hosted the third information meeting, in which from Dutch organisations active in the area of Food & Nutrition Security in low-and middle-income countries, shared information, knowledge and explored game changing ideas that could potentially be put forward as part of the Dutch contribution to UN Food Systems Summit 2021 .
Paul Van de Logt - Head of Food and Nutrition Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MinFA)/Netherlands Global Issues(IGG), presented an overview on the multilateral preparations taking place across Ministries ahead of the summit. He also provided further information and advice on how organisations can contribute and participate through the summits five Action Tracks and various solution clusters.
Marcel van Nijnatten - Coördinator Food Security Unit at Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality also presented a detailed introduction and preview of the Dutch National Food System Dialogue, which was held on 1 June. Marcel further outlined how the dialogue was to be broken down into a series of thematic discussions, by focussing on sustainable and healthy diets, the food environment, finance, true pricing, food-feed competition, the Dutch food system in an international context, and new scientific developments.
Further plenary exchanges on UN FSS preparations also took place, in which the importance of bilateral cooperation, the continued engagement of Dutch Embassies and scalability of identified solutions were amongst the topics discussed.
