Rumen8 follow-up workshop
Rumen8 is a free software application which helps to more easily manage dairy and beef cattle rations in order to increase production, reduce costs and lower enteric methane intensity. Originally developed for the dairy industry in Australia, it was adapted for use in East Africa by adding, amongst other features, a tropical feed library with 230 feeds. It has proven itself as a powerful tool for reducing feed cost, increasing margins and reducing enteric methane emissions.

This workshop on 22 July was a follow up to a breakfast webinar which took place two weeks earlier. On this occasion, the workshop included presentations from Dr. Hink Perdok who presented the dairy module, as well as Dr. Martin Staines who presented the beef module. There was also ample time for a Q & A after each session. Netherlands Food Partnership and the NEADAP coalition consider Rumen8 as a great example of ‘best practice in dairy and beef’ and therefore promotes its wider use.
