Outcomes from the UN Food Systems Summit
The first ever Food Systems Summit took place during the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23, in an effort to spur national and regional food systems transitions, which help deliver the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, much of the emphasis was placed towards SDG2 and the elimination of global hunger by 2030, through food systems transformation. UN member states present at the summit, together with leaders from private sector, science, and development institutions, committed their support to the transformation of food systems as a key and crucial element of the SDG agenda.
